The Skate Park in SLO is Finally Open!

Live SLO

In 2007, 200 skateboarders showed up to SLO City Hall to say that the old wooden ramps wouldn’t do and the city needed to invest in a real skate park, or so the story goes. Eight years and $2.2 million later, the grand opening of the new SLO skate park was this weekend. The park features 15,500 square-feet of skate-able concrete, an outdoor amphitheater, and public art for people to enjoy. It is located in Santa Rosa park off Santa Rosa between the 101 and Foothill Blvd.

The grand opening was a pretty awesome event with food trucks, live bands and dj’s, a pro skate and vendors booths. From a design aspect the park is really quite beautiful and coming from someone who doesn’t know a lot about skateboarding, looks like it has a ton of fun things to skate!
